Re: Thanks and Congratulations on UHNRC Resolution on Sri Lanka
The Honorable Barack Obama
President of the United States of America
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20500
Dear President Obama:
We thank you and the State Department for your part in bringing forward the UNHRC resolution on Sri Lanka, which calls for an international investigation into war crimes and abuses by Sri Lankan authorities.
We thank you because we believe that it is humane and necessary for the victims' relatives to learn at least what has become of their kin who disappeared during and since the recent Sri Lankan ethnic war. We think that you and our State Department have done much to keep the world's attention on these problems and to move toward their resolution.
We also think that a referendum among the Tamils in the northeast of Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan Tamils displaced by the war is a necessary next step in resolving the issues that plague Sri Lanka. We hope that you will continue to direct your attention and concern to this matter.
